Checking Myself

Addiction is a powerful force that can consume a person's thoughts and actions, leading them down a dangerous path of self-destructive behavior. For those struggling with addiction, recognizing the patterns of addict thinking is crucial in order to break free from its grip and find a path to recovery. We've talked about this before....but I find that revisiting this topic really helps in my healing process.

AA is a powerful tool that has helped countless individuals on their journey to recovery.  AA provides a supportive community of people who understand the struggles of addiction and recovery and provide a safe space for us to share our experiences and learn from one another.

One of the key principles of AA is recognizing addict thinking. This includes identifying thought patterns and behaviors that can lead to relapse, such as denial, rationalization, and minimizing the consequences of addiction. By becoming aware of these patterns, those of us in recovery can learn to challenge and change our thinking in order to maintain our sobriety.

I caught myself justifying dishonest behavior. For me, that means I'm not leading an authentic life as myself. So it's time to go back to basics!!

Returning to AA can provides me with the support and accountability I need to stay on track in my recovery journey. Attending meetings, connecting with a sponsor, and reaching out to other members of the AA community can help individuals stay focused on our sobriety goals and continue to build a strong foundation for a healthy, fulfilling life.

It's important to remember that recovery is a lifelong process, and setbacks are a natural part of the journey. By staying connected to AA and actively working on recognizing and challenging addict thinking, we can strengthen our resolve and continue to move forward on our path to sobriety. At least, that's what it does for me.

There is never any shame in returning to the supports that helped you on your recovery journey! If you or a loved one is struggling with recovery, don't hesitate to reach out for help!. AA and other support groups we've talked about can provide the guidance and encouragement needed to recover and find a new sense of hope and purpose in life. Remember, the logic is still strong in you – with dedication and support, recovery is possible.
